In February 2021, Bread Source put out an open call for artists to reimagine their shop windows across Norwich and Aylsham based around the title “Spring in the City”. My entry, “A Picnic on Mousehold Heath”, was chosen for their Bridewell Alley kitchen window.

I wanted to create something which represented Norwich but also expressed the feeling of a new dawn after a difficult year. The illustration shows two people – friends, family, or a couple – enjoying coffee and baked goods one spring evening at Mousehold Heath. Behind them, the sun is setting, illuminating the city skyline. Norwich Castle, Church of St Peter Mancroft, The Forum, City Hall, Norwich Cathedral, and the Catholic Cathedral can all be spotted basking in the evening light.
